Private finance in Pune
Private finance in Pune is a loan from an NBFC registered with the Reserve Bank of India or from a money lender licensed under Maharashtra's money-lending law, often considered after a bank has said no. It usually costs more than a bank loan and runs for a shorter term. Atlanta Group helps people in Pune compare options from the registered providers we work with, and explains every term before anyone signs. The provider decides on every application, and approval is never guaranteed.
Why people in Pune look at private finance
The people who ask us about private finance in Pune are often salaried staff whose bank application stalled on a short job history or too many EMIs, small business owners whose income is real but hard to show on paper, and families facing an urgent bill. Some have already been offered "no security, no questions" loans by agents. A registered provider will still check your income and credit record, and that check protects you too.
How Maharashtra regulates money lenders
In Maharashtra, a money lender, often called a savkar, needs a licence under the Maharashtra Money-Lending (Regulation) Act, 2014. The licence is granted by the District Registrar, renewed every year, and valid only for the area it names. The money lender must display it at the place of business, and the state government sets limits on the interest a licensed money lender may charge. NBFCs are regulated separately, by the Reserve Bank of India.
How to check a lender in Pune
Ask for the full legal name of whoever is lending. For a money lender, ask to see the licence and note its number and area; the local Assistant Registrar's office keeps a list of licensed money lenders with their addresses and licence numbers. For an NBFC, check it on RBI's list of registered NBFCs or its Sachet portal. Then insist on written terms that show every charge and the total repayment, and never pay a fee before the loan is paid out.
How Atlanta Group helps
We start by listening and reading your credit report with you, and we look first at whether a bank or NBFC can still help. Where private finance is the better fit, we compare two to three registered options on rate, tenure, security, charges and total repayment, and go through the terms line by line before you sign. If property is offered as security, it is at risk if repayments are missed. You can talk to us by phone, on WhatsApp or, by appointment, at our Shivajinagar office. Our Private Finance Loan page explains the full process, costs and timeline.

Frequently asked questions
What is a savkar loan, and is it legal in Pune?
Savkar is the Marathi word for a money lender. Borrowing from one is legal if the savkar holds a valid Maharashtra money-lending licence for the area. An unlicensed savkar is operating outside the law, and you have none of the protections the Act gives borrowers.
Can a money lender licensed in Mumbai lend to me in Pune?
A Maharashtra licence is valid only for the area it names, so check that it covers the place where you borrow. NBFCs registered with RBI are different: their registration applies across India.
Can I use gold or a vehicle as security instead?
Often, yes. Gold loans and loans against a vehicle from banks and NBFCs are common secured alternatives, and they can cost less than unsecured private finance. If you cannot repay, the gold can be sold or the vehicle taken, so borrow only what you can repay.
Can private finance tide me over until my salary or a payment comes in?
It can bridge a short gap if the money you are waiting for is certain and the total cost is clear. It is risky if the payment might be late, because short-term loans get expensive quickly when extended. Ask what happens, and what it costs, if you repay late.
What can I do if a money lender in Pune harasses me?
Maharashtra's money-lending law treats harassment by a money lender as an offence. Keep a record of calls and messages, report threats to the police, and you can complain to the District Registrar, who can cancel a licence for misconduct. For an NBFC, complain to the company first and then to the RBI Integrated Ombudsman.
